ISSE Meeting

The Institute for Sub-Surface Exploration held a meeting on March 14th, 2006 at NASA Ames Research Center with invited business and industry representatives to discuss current planetary sub-surface exploration capabilities and those that are needed as the country moves closer to a return to the Moon by both robots and astronauts and as the robotic exploration of Mars continues. A particular emphasis was placed on joint ventures between government and industry in the development of new sub-surface related technologies and processes. Participants at the meeting also discussed applications of present and future space exploration technology for use in the mining and related industries; mine safety was one such application.
